Cartoonist, artist , letterer, longtime comics retail employee and convention organizer Dustin Harbin on how to sell more comics, how to build an audience, and how to get along with your neighbors.

11:00 AM-NOON  T. Edward Bak: Research Methodology
Cartoonist and author of Island of Memory, Sea Of Time on research methodology: how to go deep on any topic and how to balance learning about subjects and making comics about them.

2:00 PM-3:30 PM  Skill Set: Ann Telnaes
In a special “Talk And Teach” presentation focusing on one cartoonist’s full range of abilities, Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Ann Telnaes sits down with CXC Festival Director Tom Spurgeon for an exploration of the skills and practices from which she’s built her amazing career. What does one need to learn, what must one be aware of, to stay at the top of a competitive profession like editorial cartooning? Telnaes describes it all, from her facility with the pen on the page, to her negotiation of a rapidly changing industry, to her ability to provide animated versions of her work and to draw quickly for social media. Come learn from a cartoonist at the top of her game!

Cartoonist and writer (and Comics Workshop Special Guest) Sacha Mardou on scripting and planning processes for long-form fiction in comics.

11:00 AM- NOON Kriota Willberg: Drawing with NO PAIN! Injury Prevention for Cartoonists
This workshop describes common injuries caused by long hours of drawing, presents guidelines that can help prevent injuries of the hand/wrist, neck, and back, and teaches simple exercises that can help reduce the risk of getting injured.
