2021 Art+Feminism Wikipedia Virtual Edit-a-Thon (Virtual Event)

2021 Art + Feminism Virtual Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon

March 24, 2021
12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Join the Wexner Center for the Arts, University Libraries and the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum for the third annual Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon.

Despite its wide reach, Wikipedia suffers from a severe gender gap: the online encyclopedia has fewer and less extensive articles on women and queer artists. This inclusive event is dedicated to improving coverage of gender, feminism, and the arts on Wikipedia. On March 24, we invite you to edit Wikipedia throughout the day and contribute to closing the information gap online. No experience necessary!

Event organizers will be available to answer questions and assist editors in an open Zoom meeting from noon – 4 p.m. Before the event, participants are encouraged to first create a Wikipedia account, log into the dashboard, and register for our open zoom meeting.

Event organizers: Courtney Hunt, Art and Design Librarian (OSUL); Caitlin McGurk, Associate Curator for Outreach & Engagement and Assistant Professor (BICLM/OSUL); Kay Clopton, Assistant Professor-Practice (BICLM/OSUL); and Alex Adcock (WCA).

Please continue to check this page for additional updates and editing resources.
