Things to Know for Your Visit
Entry to the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum is located on the North side of Sullivant Hall (Campus Map). The reading room (Room 100) is on the West (right) side of the lobby, the office suite (Room 110) is located on the East (left) side, and the galleries, Will Eisner Seminar Room, and Jean & Charles Schulz Lecture Hall are located on the second level.

Admission to the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum galleries and reading room is free for all. Our events and programs are free as well, and any exceptions are noted in event listings. Please consider making a donation online or in-person to support our mission and help keep our resources free.
Please note that we are a special collections library, so our archive is not open for physical browsing. Collections material from our archive must be requested to view in the reading room. See Visiting the Library Reading Room for additional information and online forms to request items before your visit.
If you are visiting our gallery with a group larger than 15 people, please call 614-292-0538 or email cartoons@osu.edu at least three weeks in advance to plan your visit.
Visitor parking is available anytime in Ohio Union South Parking Garage (1759 N. High St) South of Sullivant Hall and north of the Ohio Union with entrance from High Street.
Visitor parking after 4pm on weekdays and all day on weekends is available in the Ohio Union North Garage (1780 N. High St.) and the Arps Garage (1990 College Rd.)
Rates, payment information, and vehicle clearance limits can be found on the CampusParc page. Pay for parking with a credit card upon exiting (pull up to the kiosk at the exit) or with cash or card at the walk-up kiosk located by the stairs.

All parking areas on campus are subject to football game day parking policies on home football Saturdays. Please expect increased traffic and a higher demand for parking in the campus area on those days.
Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) buses provide direct and easy access to the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum from downtown and other city and suburban neighborhoods. The #2 bus runs north and south on High Street and stops at 15th Avenue from each direction. COTA buses 18, 31, and 84 also stop at North High Street at 15th Avenue.
The small, metered parking area on the High Street side of Mershon Auditorium (entrance from High Street at 17th Ave.) may be used as a drop-off and pick-up point for visitors. A very limited number of designated accessible parking spaces are located in that lot.
For bus parking for large group visits, please contact us at least three weeks prior to your visit for more information on bus parking and drop-off locations.

If you are visiting our galleries or our reading room, you will be asked to place coats, backpacks, large purses and bags, and umbrellas in free lockers provided in the gallery and outside of our reading room. Locker tokens are provided by front desk staff. Food and drink are not allowed in our reading room or galleries and must be disposed of outside of the library.
While you view materials in the reading room or browse the exhibits in the galleries, you may have a laptop computer, tablet, smartphone (silenced). Please be aware of those around you while using devices. Paper and pencils may be used to take notes or sketch.

We invite visitors to our galleries, reading room, and events to take still-photographs without flash, so long as they are for personal, noncommercial use, except where restrictions are indicated. For filming in our spaces, please contact cartoons@osu.edu for permission.

Wheelchairs
The Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum has wheelchairs available to help patrons move throughout the building. Wheelchairs are stored in the office suite (110) on the first floor.
Building Entrances
All Sullivant Hall entrances are accessible by ramps. Power-assisted door entry to the Billy Ireland is provided at both the North and East (High Street) entrances.
Elevators
All elevators have Braille and tactile numbering and lettering both outside and inside each elevator. Elevators are located on the north side of the building in the Billy Ireland lobby, and on the East and West side of Sullivant Hall.
Restrooms
Wheelchair accessible restrooms are located on the second floor on the North and South sides of Sullivant Hall, and on the first floor on the South side.
Drinking Fountains
All drinking fountains are located near restrooms and are wheelchair accessible.

Museum Gallery
Our exhibitions highlight the depth, creativity, and cultural significance of cartoon and comics history. The museum features a permanent display of highlights from our collection in the Treasures from the Collections exhibit in the Walker Gallery, as well as rotating exhibit galleries that showcase a variety of themed exhibitions. There’s always something new to discover!
