The Ohio State University Classes

The Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum is happy to host classes from any discipline who are interested in learning more about their subject matter through the lens of cartoon art.

Join us in the Lucy Shelton Caswell Reading Room for show-and-tell viewings of materials from our collections selected to enhance your course; in our Will Eisner Seminar room for a lecture on cartoon art history, or an instructional session on using our resources; or in our Museum Galleries for a guided tour of our current exhibits. Special sessions can be constructed based on course topics and assignments.

Schedule a class at The Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum, contact us at cartoons@osu.edu and include:

  • The name of the requesting institution
  • Course title and number
  • Purpose and/or goals for the class visit
  • Three suggested dates for your session
  • Number of students

Please note: We require a minimum of one month in advance to arrange a class visit. We have limited capacity for class visits each semester and receive a high volume of requests. We strongly encourage you to reach out in advance while planning your syllabus.

If you are interested in viewing specific materials, visit our Collections page to locate the object title, creator, and finding number or consult with a library staff member. Please include this information in your class request email.

Please note that our reading room seats 24. Illustrated lectures are given in the seminar room on the second floor, which can seat up to 40.
