Legendary Doonesbury creator Garry Trudeau discusses his life and work as one of our most distinguished and decorated political cartoonists of the past 50 years. Along with his influential strip, syndicated in roughly 1,000 newspapers around the world, Trudeau is also the creator of the political satire show Alpha House for Amazon Studios. Joining Trudeau on stage is acclaimed novelist Glen David Gold, best known for Carter Beats the Devil (2001) and Sunnyside (2009).
This event is FREE for all audiences (no tickets required).

Events take place at The Ohio State University campus, including the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum, Hale Hall and the Wexner Center for the Arts.
Cartoon Crossroads Columbus (CXC) hosts a two-day scholarly symposium, Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum exhibitions and tours, a celebration of excellence and diversity in comics at SOL CON, a professional development track including a new round of our peer-to-peer “Talk and Teach” presentations, multiple receptions, a presentation on animation with animator and author John Canemaker, and an evening in conversation with Garry Trudeau and Glen David Gold.

Events take place at Columbus Metropolitan Library, with satellite events at the Columbus Museum of Art (CMA), and Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD).
CXC hosts its Expo and Marketplace in the heart of the beautiful new library facility, public panel presentations, a presentation by this year’s Thurber Prize recipient, and a Saturday night focused around a major comics-making talent and accompanying exhibition.

- SÕL-CON: The Brown and Black Comix Expo October 13, 2016 - October 16, 2016
The Mighty SÕL-CON, The Brown and Black Comics Expo, roars to life for year two with its patented Friday on-campus expo, panels, and workshops. There will be “Brown and Black Lives Matter” talkbacks with Hector Rodriguez, Keith Knight and Lalo Alcaraz; K-12 friendly ‘zine, cartoon, comics, and digital animation workshops; panels on topics such as creating indie-cons, issues of race, gender, and futurism; and fandom in Latino and African-American comics.
Join some of the best and brightest creators in the country in a high-energy creative atmosphere. SÕL-CON Schedule of Events

- Canon Fodder! A CXC Scholarly Symposium October 13, 2016 - October 14, 2016
Starting in October 2016, the annual Cartoon Crossroads Columbus (CXC) festival will include an academic symposium. Our theme for this inaugural year is “Canon Fodder,” seeking to test and remix the still-damp concrete of comics histories and canons before they set. The goal for the symposium is to launch an extended conversation among participants that will continue into the CXC weekend and beyond.
